Don’t ghost your practice! 👻

As we move into autumn and the days grow shorter, it’s the perfect time to reconnect with our yoga practice or establish a new routine.

In Ayurveda and traditional yoga philosophy, autumn is associated with the qualities of vata: movement, dryness, coolness, and change. This is traditionally considered a time when establishing routines, keeping warm, and cultivating steadiness can help bring balance to the changing season.

And, of course,  Ashtanga Yoga is an ideal way to balance vata during the changing season. Through breath, movement, and meditation, we can cultivate stability, warmth, and a little more calm amid the changing rhythms of everyday life.

This helps to build physical strength, boost immunity, and find mental calm as we head into the holiday season.

And what better time to return to the mat?

November At The Shala

The November schedule is now live, with a few exciting changes to our weekend program.

Saturday | Pranayama & Ashtanga | 9:00–10:30 AM

Our Saturday morning class is evolving into a combination of pranayama and a light Ashtanga practice.

We’ll begin by exploring the breath and the quieter, more internal aspects of yoga before moving into an accessible asana practice.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to balance movement with meditation, deepen your relationship with the breath, and experience the practice beyond the postures alone.

Sunday | Ashtanga UNLOCKED Workshop | 9:00–10:30 AM

Sunday mornings are evolving!

Each week, we’ll explore a different family of asanas, rotating through themes such as standing and balancing postures, forward bends and twists, backbends and side bends, and inversions.

These workshops offer a more flexible way to explore postures from the First and Second Series, and occasionally beyond.

We’ll break down the postures, explore their mechanics, and work with different approaches to make them accessible to a range of practitioners.

The goal is to create a dynamic, practical, and welcoming environment where you can develop your understanding of the asanas, work on challenging postures, and discover new possibilities in your practice.

MORE TO COME!

November is shaping up to be an exciting month at the shala, with more workshops, events, and opportunities to deepen your practice on the way.

I’m also looking forward to sharing more about our upcoming 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, beginning in January 2027, for those interested in taking their practice and understanding of yoga to a deeper level.

As always, I’d love to hear from you. Are there particular classes, workshops, or topics you’d like to see at the shala? Let me know!

And if you haven’t had a chance to visit our new space yet, please get in touch. I’d be happy to show you around and help you find a way to practice that works for you.

Don’t ghost your practice.

See you on the mat,
Adarsh
